Tours & Talks : Turquoise Coast : Olympos, Cirali & Antalya
Olympos & Cirali
Two settlements divided by a stream, and a historical site... Cirali is famous for loggerhead turtles, quiet nights, more peaceful environment, and organic produce. Olympos, named after the ancient site you walk through, owes its fame to treehouses favoured by young travelers. Both share an idyllic coastline. And the lovely ancient site, Phaselis, the city that Alexander the Great spent a winter is a pretty site in a pine forest by the sea.
Antalya
The most important city along the Turquoise Coastline, Antalya has an Old City area surrounded by city walls, a gate dating back to 2nd century built by Roman emperor Hadrian, a breathtaking museum, and beaches on both ends of the city. It is another convenient base for visiting ancient sites: Termessos, north of Antalya, is on a steep hill Alexander the Great couldn’t conquer. You reach the site after a steep climb, but the view is worth all the effort. Famous Roman theatre Aspendos still hosts classical music concerts and operas. Perge was one of the most important schools of sculpture in Roman times, and marble statues and reliefs from Perge can be seen in the museum in Antalya.
