Tours & Talks : Turquoise Coast : Bodrum & Marmaris
Bodrum
Once upon a time, it was a place Turkish Republic sent criminals on exile, but now it is the most popular tourist resort in Turkey. One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the monumental tomb of Mausolos was located here. Halicarnassos, as it used to be called in ancient times, was the capital of Karia in pre-Roman period. Ancient theatre overlooks the city, and the castle built by crusaders in the 16th century now hosts an amazing exhibit of underwater archaeology. White, cube shaped houses are decorated with purple bougainvillae, and narrow cobblestoned streets always wind towards the sea. Apart from historical sites, Bodrum is also famous for its active nightlife. In summer time, topmodels and high society rush in, followed by the paparazzi...
Marmaris
Surrounded by liquidamber and pine trees, Marmaris is a lovely tourism resort. It doesn’t have much history and many historical sites, it is a beautiful stop along the Blue Cruise. And if you wish to visit Rhodes, there are daily ferries departing from Marmaris.
