Your Guide: Ebru Gökteke
Welcome to Turkey!
I will be your host, your guide and lecturer!
I was born in Ankara, grew up in Istanbul, and studied English Literature at Bosphorus University, Istanbul. As a result of my never-ending interest in archaeology and history, I took additional courses on mythology, Greek tragedy and Byzantine Empire at university.
After university, I started working for newspapers and magazines. I was the managing editor of Gezi Traveler magazine which was published in association with National Geographic Society. Travelling with a photographer along the western and southern coast of Turkey, I prepared a series of articles on ancient sites of Carian and Lycian civilisations. Those articles were published in the same magazine for six consecutive months.
I have been working as a tourguide since 2002. With my love of history and archaeology, I also give onsite lectures in addition to traditional tours.
I look forward to hosting you!

Dear Ebru,
Thank you for your excellent guidance through Istanbul. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing your wonderful city and I think that you succeeded in giving us a sense of the multi-layered history of Istanbul.
